Candidate for Birley
I am 55 years old and have been married to Jean
for 32 years; we have 4 grown up children and 2 grandchildren. I
retired as a TV engineer where I ran my own business, then went
on to further my studies to qualify in Homoeopathy and later on
as a Reiki master, to complement other therapies I use. I am currently
the contact point for Sheffield Against Fluoridation, something
I have fought tirelessly against for over 20 years
I hold A UK Athletics License as a performance
coach, in a number of events, the Decathlon being my speciality.
I had the honour of being Chairman of Hallamshire Harriers Sheffield
where our children spent many happy years playing a very active
part in our club, which helped enormously in their overall development.
I believe that the programme to refurbish our
council houses is vital but we must give each householders what
they need. Fitting new windows, kitchens and bathrooms while ignoring
leaking roofs and energy efficiency is the wrong approach. All new
homes need to be constructed to the highest renewable energy standards
as climate change dictates the need to save energy.
I support accountable and efficient public
services play an essential role in maintaining a healthy community,
which I believe is enhanced by a reliable and cost effective, environmentally
friendly Public Transport system. Birley residents have been impacted
by the increasing unreliable bus service. We need re-regulation
to get back control of our bus services.
