I am a 40 year old
project manager for a healthy living centre in Foxhill. I am married
with two children aged 11 and 5 and have lived in Sheffield since
I was 7. I was a councillor for the Darnall ward between 1996
and 2000 and I have stood in local elections in 1994 in Hallam;
in 2000 in Park and last year in Southey. I am currently the co-chair
of the Sheffield Green Party.
I cycle to work every day and we reuse and
recycle as much as possible. We are planning a environmentally
friendly extension that will reduce our fuel use , we garden organically
and shop locally for organic produce. I am a Member of Friends
of the Earth, Greenpeace, Centre for Alternative Technology and
the Soil Association.
As I work in a community
centre in the Southey ward I have a good knowledge of people's
concerns. They are worried about getting around the area by a
public transport that fails to serve them and costs more and more
each year. They are also concerned about losing local shops, businesses
and services. Also the new housing development on Foxhill has
upset a lot of people as it will be inappropriate for the area.
We need to ensure that the planned new homes in the rest of the
ward are suitable for the current resident's needs.
