Greens oppose privatisation of Sheffield Schools

14th February 2007

Sheffield Green Party Co Chair Steve Barnard said, "The Green Party is completely opposed to Trust Schools. They will do nothing to improve educational standards. They will be wholly unaccountable to the local community. These schools will be under the influence of big business which is best kept well away from children. They will involve a new round of changes and re-organisation when schools are crying out for a period of stability. They are privatisation by the back door, based on the Prime Minister's out-dated belief that private education is better than public education."
